Wouldn’t it be nice if we had the convenience of price tags to guide us through our life choices?

You can have this fabulous handsome man who puts you high up on a pedestal for the price of catering to his ego. Or this great “dream” job could be yours for the small sum of your time, energy and integrity.

Sometimes we take what we can get because we feel it is all we are worth. Other times we fight for the “more” that we believe we deserve. And on occasion, the price we pay for something of perceived worth is less than what we receive in return. In the moment of this cash mere revelation, what makes something worthy of sacrifice, what gives it appeal? What then, in the wake of our experiences, is value?

Value is a verb and a noun. It is something you do and something that is. In a world of dollars and nonsense, sometimes price is not a factor. Sometimes we pay a high price for what we need. Sometimes we are extravagant. And sometimes our value is reduced when we ourselves are discounted. Price is not an indication of value. Value comes from some other place.
